Medical Weight Loss
Welcome to Upper Cape Weight Loss, where we understand that achieving lasting weight loss is not just about dieting and exercise – it's about hormones and lifestyle. As a nurse practitioner-led weight loss center, we specialize in addressing the unique factors that can impact your weight and overall well-being.
Weight loss medications suppress your appetite and promote a sense of fullness leading to a natural decrease in caloric intake. This is a key factor in weight loss. Semaglutide is often prescribed as part of a comprehensive weight management plan including lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise.
How It Works
Initial consultation involves a nurse practitioner reviewing your medical history, diagnostics, and discussing your weight loss goals. This can be done in person or by phone.

Upper Cape Weight Loss is a concierge weight loss practice. Personalized visits can be done by phone, in your own home, or at your convenience in Bourne, MA. Insurance is not accepted.
It is key to make a commitment and set SMART goals.
A nurse practitioner will provide lifestyle coaching to personalize your weight loss goals to get your started with your weight loss journey!
Accountability is critical for long-term weight loss.
Studies show that lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise, weigh-ins, and recognizing emotional eating promote long term weight loss.

Medications
Semaglutide
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 (glucagon like peptide) receptor antagonist. This medication mimics the natural GLP-1 hormone released after eating. It prompts the body to produce more insulin, which lowers blood sugar and makes you feel full.
Semaglutide is administered weekly by subcutaneous injection.
In combination with a low carbohydrate and high protein nutrition plan, studies show that patients lose about 15% of their body weight over a 10- to 15-month period.
Side effects are minimal and can be managed by staying hydrated, eating small, frequent meals and avoiding fried or greasy meals which can be difficult to digest.

Tirzepatide
Tirzepatide is unique because it is a GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) AND GLP-1(glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist. This medication helps control appetite, calorie intake, and signals to the brain that you’re full — so you eat less.

Tirzepatide is a once-weekly injection.

In combination with a low carbohydrate and high protein nutrition plan, studies show that those treated with tirzepatide had an average weight loss of 15% to 20% of their starting body weight over 72 weeks (about 16.5 months).
Tirzepatide is usually well-tolerated, but may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite.

Adult Certified Nurse Practitioner
Nurse Practitioner in Emergency, Home, and Hospital Medicine
My career began at Beth Israel Medical Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) working as a floor nurse in medicine/telemetry unit in 1994 until moving into the Emergency Department in 2001. For the next ten years, I had a great job with awesome colleagues, working as a triage, trauma, and resource nurse helping people in need. Upon graduating with a Master’s Degree from Boston College in 2011, I transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital, working as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner. I continue to work in Emergency Medicine at MGH and am grateful to be a part of such an intelligent, prestigious, and caring team!
As the founder and clinician at Upper Cape Weight Loss,
I believe achieving lasting weight loss is not just about dieting and exercise – it's also about hormones and lifestyle. Opening a weight loss clinic, allows me to focus on taking a proactive and preventive focus to address the root causes of health issues and improve overall well-being. For the last twenty-five years, my career has focused on emergency and urgent care, a reactive approach. I treat many chronic conditions, co-morbidities, and complications that could be avoided!
The science is behind the medicine! A healthy diet and exercise with the added boost of weight loss medications is a proven way to lose weight.

At Upper Cape Weight Loss, I’m committed to advocate and help educate you to ensure a successful weight loss journey.
